Privacy Policy

This page covers Tabaway the service — the account you create, the boards/items you store, and how tabaway.eu handles your data. (Looking for the browser extension's privacy policy instead? What we collect

Account info: the username and email you sign up with.
Content you save: the tabs, notes, boards, and tags you create in Tabaway.
Uploaded files: stored in S3-compatible object storage, not on the web server itself.
Session data: a login cookie, and (if you use MFA) a device/session list you can view and revoke yourself under Account → Devices & Sessions.
AI auto-tagging (only if you turn it on): if enabled, item content is sent to whichever AI provider you configure (a self-hosted Ollama instance, or a third-party API if you supply your own key) to generate tags. This is off by default and never happens unless you explicitly enable it.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your data with third parties.
We don't use your content for advertising or profiling.
We don't include analytics or tracking scripts on this site.

Where your data lives

Tabaway runs on infrastructure we operate directly (not a third-party SaaS platform), with backups stored encrypted on a separate storage server. If you're on a beta or paid tier in the future, payment processing (when introduced) will be handled by a third-party processor (Stripe) — Tabaway itself never stores your card details.

Your data, your control

You can export your data at any time from within the app.
You can delete individual items, or your whole account, yourself.
Deleted items go to a recoverable trash first (configurable retention, default 30 days) before permanent deletion.
